We provided project management and construction inspection services for a 100,000 gpd treatment plant, several pumping stations, and a 49,000 linear foot sewer collection system.    We also prepared an operations and maintenance manual for this EPA-funded project.  We modeled the receiving stream using the DEP water quality model to determine whether the stream can assimilate an additional wastewater discharge.  Based on the positive results of our stream water quality modeling, we designed a 300,000 gpd expansion to the existing treatment plant, and we provided construction management and construction observation services for this plant expansion.

We performed an in-depth cost analysis of treatment system options for the new 300,000 gpd expansion.  We selected a Sequencing Batch Reactor (SBR) since it had the lowest construction and operating costs for this site, is simple to operate, provides flow equalization, and produces a consistently excellent effluent.  The existing 100,000 gpd extended aeration plant, designed by the previous consultant, cost $1.0 million to construct (that's $10 per gallon of treatment).  Our 300,000 gpd SBR plant cost $1.3 million, ($4.30 per gallon of treatment).
