Wastewater Design and Management
Jim Thorpe
Area School District
Carbon County, PA
F. X. Browne, Inc. designed a
200,000 gallon water supply system, which included an elevated water tower, and
a 20,000 gallon per day tertiary treatment facility for the new Jim Thorpe Area School
District’s K-8 School located in Kidder Township, Carbon
County, PA. The wastewater facility included a pump
station and 3,000 linear feet of pressure and gravity sewer lines. Originally,
we conducted soils testing and prepared the planning module and preliminary
design for a 10,000 gpd spray irrigation system on the school property to serve
the wastewater needs of the school. After discussions with the Township and the
adjacent property owner, F. X. Browne, Inc.
revised the planning module to include a tertiary treatment plant with a stream
discharge to Dilldown Creek.
