Professional Engineer Designated at F. X. Browne, Inc.

Lansdale, Pennsylvania – Katie Ferry, of F. X. Browne, Inc., recently passed her professional engineer's exam and is now a registered professional engineer in Pennsylvania. Ferry holds a Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering from The Catholic University of America and a Masters degree in Water Resources and Environmental Engineering from Villanova University.

Lansdale, Pennsylvania – Dr. Frank Browne, P.E., recently made a presentation on lake management at a Tri-County Regional Forum hosted by the Byram Township Environmental Commission and North Byram Concerned Citizens. In Tough Love for our Lakes, Dr. Browne emphasized natural aquatic weed control methods and cautious use of herbicides.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Earlham College and a Masters Degree in Landscape Architecture from Virginia Tech. Katie Ferry, a Professional Engineer, is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers. Lansdale, Pennsylvania – F. X. Browne, Inc. promoted Jeffrey L. Wright, P. E. to Engineering and Environmental Science Program Manager. Wright, an Associate Member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the Virginia Military Institute. During his more than 12 years working as a professional engineer in eight different states, Mr. Wright has designed and managed a wide variety of infrastructure and development projects. Mr. Wright's expertise is in the planning, analysis, and design of water resources and management systems, as well as low impact and sustainable development.

The program explored creative ways to translate lake quality data into meaningful information to technical personnel, policy and decision makers, and the general public.

Lansdale, Pennsylvania – Megan LeBoon, an Engineering Associate with F. X. Browne, Inc., will present a paper on Stormwater Management at the World Environmental & Water Resources Congress on “Restoring Our Natural Habitat”. LeBoon, who holds a Masters degree in Civil Engineering from Villanova University, was also recently appointed to the American Society of Civil Engineer’s Stormwater Infrastructure Committee.

Over 200 DEP and Conservation District staff attended the training workshop in State College. With over 35 years of experience in stormwater and water quality management, Dr. Browne has been assisting DEP in training engineers in Pennsylvania in the use of the new Manual, which was designed to minimize the adverse impacts of stormwater on ground water and surface water resources.

Lansdale, Pennsylvania – Dr. Frank Browne assisted with the draft of PA DEP’s new Stormwater Management manual and assisted DEP in training engineers in Pennsylvania in meeting the mandates of the new manual which was designed to minimize the adverse impacts of stormwater on ground water and surface water resources. F. X. Browne, Inc. was recently selected by the PA DEP to assist in the expedited review processing of National Pollutant Discharge Elimination Systems (NPDES) stormwater permit applications.

Environmental Firm Awarded $1.7 Million Virginia Contract

Lansdale, Pennsylvania – F. X. Browne, Inc., a nationally-recognized environmental consulting firm headquartered in Lansdale, PA was recently awarded a $1.7 million contract with the Department of Public Works and Environmental Services of Fairfax County, Virginia to develop comprehensive watershed management plans for two watersheds in Fairfax County. F. X. Browne, Inc. will use its 30 years of expertise in developing creative and innovative management solutions, such as low impact development and stream restoration, to solve stormwater and water quality problems in Fairfax County. The plans will be implemented over the next 25 years.

Lansdale, Pennsylvania – Dr. Frank Browne, P.E., presented “Epikarstic Gravity Drains – An Innovative Method for Infiltrating Stormwater in Karst” at the 2007 Pennsylvania Stormwater Management Symposium held at Villanova University. The new stormwater management approach, used for the first time in the United States, allows recharge of stormwater runoff without forming sinkholes.

Lansdale, Pennsylvania – After performing a feasibility study and design for Woodloch Pines’ Teedyuskung Lake in Pike County, environmental consulting firm F. X. Browne, Inc. oversaw Pennsylvania’s first batch alum treatment to inactivate phosphorus and restore the lake’s recreational and aesthetic attributes. The firm has a nationwide reputation in lake and stream restoration.
