New Staff at F. X. Browne, Inc. 

Lansdale, Pennsylvania - F. X. Browne, Inc., a local, nationally-recognized environmental consulting firm with over 28 years of excellence and innovation in environmental design, planning, and engineering, recently hired additional staff.  Joining the firm as an Engineering Associate, Jon-Paul Do recently received his Masters' degree in Water Resources Engineering from Villanova University.  New staff member, Marc Toth brings over 7 years of experience in site development design and AutoCADD, as well as formal education in computer systems management.

F. X. Browne, Inc. Hires New Project Scientist

Lansdale, Pennsylvania - F. X. Browne, Inc., a nationally-recognized environmental consulting firm headquartered in Lansdale, recently hired a new Project Scientist.  Local resident, Joanne Shaeffer, will lend her expertise in plants, soils, GIS, hydrogeology and limnology.  Ms. Shaeffer holds a BS in Environmental Science and is currently studying at Del Val College for her BS in Environmental Landscape Design.

New Project Manager Hired at F. X. Browne, Inc.

Lansdale, Pennsylvania - Jeffrey L. Wright recently joined F. X. Browne, Inc. as a Project Manager in its Lansdale office, managing water resources engineering.  Mr. Wright has over 10 years of experience in water, sewer, and stormwater management, and hydraulic and hydrologic analysis.  He received his BS in Civil Engineering from Virginia Military Institute and currently holds PE licenses in Virginia and Georgia.

New Engineering Associate Hired at F. X. Browne, Inc. 

Lansdale, Pennsylvania - Brian L. Merritt recently joined F. X. Browne, Inc. as an engineering associate in its Lansdale office.  Mr. Merritt earned his Bachelor's and Masters degrees in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Lehigh University.  He has experience in residential, commercial and industrial land development and low impact design.  He previously interned at the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

Lansdale, Pennsylvania – F. X. Browne, Inc., a nationally-recognized, award-winning environmental consulting firm headquartered in Lansdale, has been retained to provide LEED-certified development of the Cannan Valley Institute’s new Headquarters Facility in Davis, West Virginia.  F. X. Browne, Inc. will incorporate an  innovative design of stormwater and wastewater systems, including low impact development and constructed wetlands, to achieve maximum efficiency and sustainability in the site.

F. X. Browne, Inc.  Engineer Speaks at Penndale Career Expo

Lansdale, Pennsylvania – Donna L. Hegge, project manager and professional engineer at F. X. Browne, Inc., spoke this week at Penndale Middle School’s Career Expo on career opportunities in the environmental consulting field.   She told ninth grade students what it means to be an environmental engineer, what education and training they need to become an environmental engineer, and where environmental engineers work.  She also explained the job responsibilities of an environmental engineer and showed the students examples of engineering documents.

Pennypack Watershed Partnership to Hold Backyard Stream Restoration Workshop

The Pennypack Watershed Partnership will hold a free Backyard Stream Restoration Workshop on Thursday April 7 from 7:00-9:00 PM at the Pennypack Ecological Restoration Trust located at 2955 Edgehill Road, Huntingdon Valley, PA 19006.  The workshop is part of the River Conservation Planning process for the Pennypack Creek. Stream Restoration Professionals from Lansdale-based environmental engineering firm F. X. Browne. Inc. will lead the two-hour workshop, which will teach community groups and citizens the basics of organizing and implementing a stream restoration project. The Pennypack Watershed Partnership, a consortium of stakeholders including the Philadelphia Water Department, Friends of Pennypack Park, and Fairmount Park Commission, is developing the Pennypack Creek Rivers Conservation Plan. The principal goal of the Rivers Conservation Plan is to reconnect the Creek with the residents of the watershed through a two-year community based planning process, to expand and revitalize watershed stewardship of the Creek.

Pennypack Watershed Partnership to Hold Homeowner Conservation Workshop

The Pennypack Watershed Partnership will host a workshop entitled “Leave no Footprints: Environmentally Friendly Home and Garden Care” on Tuesday, April 26 from 7:00-9:00 PM at the Pennypack Ecological Restoration Trust located at 2955 Edgehill Road, Huntingdon Valley, PA 19006.  The workshop is part of the River Conservation Planning process for the Pennypack Creek. Stream Restoration Professionals from Lansdale-based environmental engineering firm F. X. Browne. Inc. will lead the two-hour workshop, which will teach citizens home and garden care techniques that reduce pollution to local streams and waterways including native plant landscaping, rain gardens, water conservation, and home toxic disposal.  Interested participants should call Barbara Baier, F. Stormwater Detention Basin Conversion

Lansdale, Pennsylvania On April 12, 2005 at 7:00 PM at the Montgomery Township Building, Montgomery Township will hold a public meeting to discuss the conversion of a stormwater detention basin on Upper State Road into a constructed wetland for stormwater treatment.  The project, which is funded through a Growing Greener grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, will also involve monitoring the wetland for a two-year period to assess its effects on water quality and biodiversity. Shandor J. Szalay, Senior Project Scientist with Lansdale-based engineering firm, F. X. Browne, Inc., will discuss the plans for project design, construction, and monitoring. Staff from the Montgomery County Planning Commission will also be on hand to discuss several of their recently-completed basin naturalization projects.

Lansdale, Pennsylvania – Dr. Frank Browne, President of F. X. Browne, Inc., recently received the Sahli Service Award from the Pennsylvania Municipal Authorities Association for his long-standing support and dedication to the Upper Gwynedd-Towamencin Municipal Authority.  The award, recognition of more than 20 years of service, was presented at a banquet recently held in his honor at the William Penn Inn.

F. X. Browne, Inc. Hires New Project Scientist

Lansdale, Pennsylvania – F. X. Browne, Inc. recently hired Sean Greene as a new project scientist for its Lansdale office.   His work for the firm includes watershed planning, low impact development design, and water resource protection ordinance reviews.  Mr. Greene previously worked as a natural resource planner for Heritage Conservancy and environmental scientist for North Penn Water Authority.  He received a Bachelor of Arts in Biological Sciences from the University of Delaware and a Master of Science in Community and Regional Planning from Temple University.  Mr. Greene sits on the Boards of Directors of the North Branch Watershed Association and the Friends of Peace Valley Nature Center.

F. X. Browne, Inc. Senior Scientist to Present at NJ Conference

Lansdale, Pennsylvania   –   F. X. Browne, Inc. senior project scientist Shandor J. Szalay will present “Getting the Most Out of Watershed Assessment Techniques” at New Jersey’s 9th Annual Land Conservation Rally produced by the New Jersey Conservation Foundation.  The conference will be held Saturday, March 12, 2005 at the Lafayette Yard Marriott in Trenton.  Mr. Szalay leads F. X. Browne, Inc.’s stream restoration projects program and manages watershed assessment and restoration projects for the firm.

F. X. Browne, Inc. Senior Scientist to Present at Schuylkill Watershed Congress

Lansdale, Pennsylvania   –   F. X. Browne, Inc. senior project scientist Shandor J. Szalay will be a panelist on “Planning For and Implementing Dam Removal” at the Schuylkill Watershed Congress on Saturday, March 5, 2005 at the Montgomery County Community College in Pottstown.  Mr. Szalay leads F. X. Browne, Inc.’s stream restoration projects program and manages watershed assessment and restoration projects for the firm.

New Engineering Associate Hired at F. X. Browne, Inc.

Lansdale, Pennsylvania – F. X. Browne, Inc. recently hired Michelle DiMeglio as a new engineering associate in its Lansdale office.  Ms. DiMeglio earned her B.S. degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Lafayette College and her primary areas of interest are water quality and hydrology.  She previously worked for the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection and Stroud Water Research Center.  Ms. DiMeglio has experience in Water Quality, Environmental Site Assessments, Stormwater Management, and Pollution Prevention.

F. X. Browne, Inc. Project Wins Award from Northeast Pennsylvania Environmental Partners

Lansdale, Pennsylvania  -  F. X. Browne, Inc.’s client, the Twin and Walker Creeks Watershed Conservancy of Shohola, Pike County, received the 2004 Environmental Partnership Award from Northeastern Pennsylvania Environmental Partners for promoting a better understanding of their watershed and its ecosystem, and protecting, restoring, and enhancing the watershed through proper management and stewardship.  F. X. Browne, Inc. prepared the watershed management plan for the Twin Walker Creeks Watershed, and conducts an annual water quality monitoring program for the Conservancy’s volunteer monitors. 

The Northeastern Pennsylvania Environmental Partners include the Pennsylvania Environmental Council, and the state’s Department of Environmental Protection and Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.
